I don't know what's wrong wiht you but I got no problem watching TV with no remote. Find a movie and stick with it.
And I see what you mean about dudes and their drinks. Girls don't do it cuz it's not safe or they'll leave it with their girls. I figure dudes don't trust their boys to watch their drink, which is kind of suspect, but makes sense to me.
