Acting Right

9:37 PM |

Ok. Let me just say this. LADIES! There is absolutely no reason for you to be going through your man's phone, texting random girls in his phone book, or calling and playing around. NO. FUCKING. REASON. AT. ALL.

And fella's if you're doing this...really.......I-I-I-can't even. Just grow some balls.

I feel like I shouldn't have to say anymore but I know I do because....man, it's such a rampant problem.

Apparently you have some trust issues. And those issues have nothing at all to do with that chic you're calling. What needs to happen is you need to figure out why you can't trust your man. If he's cheating then deal with HIM. Decide if you want to even put up with this. I mean do you really want to be like that dog in the yard barking at everyone that comes by? Eventually the kids in the neighborhood are going to start throwing rocks at your ass.

If he's not cheating then, honey, get some help!

So it's not trust issues you say? Then what is the problem? Are you 12? How the hell can you claim to be a grown ass woman and still find it funny to prank call women in your man's phone? What if the number is a client? His boss? A co-worker? Here you are making your man look terribly unprofessional, irresponsible, and childish. Jeopardizing his potential to make money.

GROW THE FUCK UP.

Public cell phone use etiquette.....

I have to write about this primarily because I, myself today was caught off guard by a phone call and forgot the proper etiquette. And because there was a very loud student outside of my classroom having a loud conversation for the whole hall to hear. So here we go....

1. I personally do not believe that there is a reason for you to be on the phone, having a private (or not private) conversation in front of someone else. So if you take the phone call, step away as much as you can. Go outside, to another room, to a hallway, or just a few feet away from the people you are with. This way the conversation can go on with out distraction and you keep your private business private. Wisegeek.com says that you should observe the 10-foot proximity rule, meaning you should be at least 10 feet away from the next person when you are having a conversation.

2. If you absolutely have to take a phone call in a pubic place, please use your inside voice. And don't tell your life story. Why should I know all of your personal business and why should the person(s) you are with have to wait several minutes for you to get off the phone? Hit the high points and keep it moving.

3. If it's quiet: Vibrate. If it's not quite and you are around other people and your ringtone would make a grown man blush: Vibrate. Even if your ringtone is not bad, if you are in a public setting you should put it on vibrate. Let's just be honest. How many people still use the stock ringtones that came with the phone? Ringtones are representative of their owners personality. And sometimes that's just entirely too much information. Imagine sitting in a meeting with your boss and you hear Beyonce singing "The way you blowin up my phone won't make me move no fast-ah". Not a bad ringtone, but now everyone in the meeting has a few questions (behind your back) about your personal life.

4. And most of all, don't be rude. Don't answer the phone when you are in the middle of a date, conversation with another person, in the movies, in the classroom, etc. That's just tacky. Ultimately, if we are all polite-minded and think of how what we are doing impacts others we will be able to easily use our phones without making people want to hit us with a brick.

Not A Good Look

11:30 AM |

"I sent that bitch a smiley face, bitches love smiley faces".......

I'm sorry but I really hate to see a man on a cell phone. I'm not just talking abut doing some business, or checking voicemail or making appointments or things of that nature. I mean when I see a man glued to his blackberry, chatting it up with his boys or texting like a high school teenager.

Since when did it become cute for a man to be huddled up in the corner whispering into his phone? And at 6:30am? Who are you talking to?? I've always been bothered by a very chatty man. I just don't really find that attractive. But more and more these days I just see everyone from business men to 'yo' boys strolling down the block yacking away to the mystery person on the other end of the line. (My Aunt's definition of 'yo' boys: The dudes on the block with the pants off their butts shouting 'yo, yo, yo' all day).

Please fellas, understand that excessive texting and cell phone use in public for purposes other than business tends to make you look very feminine. Because of this, I encourage the women in your lives to be conscious of your current location and try not to pin you on the phone for hours on end when you're out in public taking care of business. Ladies, if you need to see what time he's picking you up, or a quick text to say hi or whatever, that's cool. In short, fellas, save all that conversation about baby-mama drama, silly chics you split the night before, game-time discussion and pillow talk for the home and in person. Cause doing all of that out in public is just not a good look.
